Project |01 AVATRAIT
Web Project Leader

Avatrait - bringing digital art to life.
The concept of virtual worlds artists exposing their art on the web as well as in real life.

The pieces would be sold in virtual expos, or at the Avatrait Gallery in Chicago. Once sold, the owner gets a certificate and the piece would be taken offline, printed, framed, signed and delivered at home.

Furthermore we had a virtual gallery with regular online expositions. This was also linked to our Second Life Avatrait Gallery on the Second life platform, where we organised virtual community events.

This art has been dubbed “Virtual Impressionism” and in October 2008  Avatrait was welcomed by the global art community at the Festival della Creatività in Florence, Italy, and is currently still going in the Rinascimento Virtuale exhibit on the art of virtual worlds at the Florence Museum of Natural History.

Project | 02 SLIPPCAT
Inworld general project manager

Slippcat was presented as a non-intrusive marketing system for virtual worlds. The idea was a new concept called 'Empowered Engagement' which basically gave the consumer the choice of what, when and how information was received.  About any product of choice: Pull instead of push-marketing.  This could be applied to any virtual platform and game.

The whole idea around Slippcat was forward-thinking, it revolved around e-commerce - people buying their products online - and we knew that classic old- fashioned advertising would dwindle.
(Craig-List just came out and already had an impact on advertising- sales).
The web would evolve around communities online.
In the near future, people would also have a digital life on the web, spending a lot of time online. And this would be the standard.

This idea however, didn't happen the way we envisioned it. It didn't develop in virtual worlds like Second Life or Barbie World, but in social media and with the use of social platforms.  We had the right grasp on the concept but the timing and focus were not. Coupled with the recession that hit us, Slippcat was put on the shelf.

Slippcat was silver Sponsor of the Virtual World Conference  ( VWC ) in Javits Center NYC. One of the leading events regarding virtual worlds - gaming development in the United States. We were proud to have had a keynote speaker and a main stand at the center of the event.
